Viva Barcelona!

Ah, Barcelona! Stress seems to fall away here, wandering through the old streets of the Barrio Gótico, stopping periodically to enjoy tapas. Spain provides such a curious mix of the old and new. Ornate buildings and history are at every turn and yet, Spain is also at the forefront of design as evidenced in daring modern architecture, graphic design and of course, the art. It makes sense to me that some of the world’s greatest artists such as Picasso, Miro, Gaudi and Dalí all hail from this country. The winding streets, leisurely pace, warm Mediterranean air and even warmer people seem to create the perfect space for imagination to flourish. It’s a city for dreamers.

Click here to view the audio slideshow that I produced about Barcelona for the   the Semester At Sea website. Check out Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, local markets (a foodie’s dream), a bit of flamenco and more!
